When we send our children off to school for the first time, we can expect they will not develop the necessary skills needed to communicate and articulate with their classmates.  From the time that children enter this arena, called education in LAUSD, they are immediately instructed not to talk to each other, rather than ever learning to speak appropriately to one another, like not interrupting when someone else is speaking, and the difference in effective communication skills; they are told to Shut-UP.  Talking is communication and the skill that separates human beings from the animal kingdom. Speaking to one another is the natural process of development. Instead of creating learning circles where children work together co-operatively LAUSD South Central children are separated into rows and punished for communicating with one another, in this so-called learning environment. This type of non-supportive instruction begins the process to perpetuate a slavery mind-set of lack of trust, name calling and unhealthy competition. Verily, verily your child and mine is incapable of communicating with you or others. It is at this point that children become and are victimized and abused by the label called, “gang related.” Eventually they accept this label as something learned and eventually take on any of its characteristics and associated behaviors.  Thank you, Los Angeles Unified School District; because, under the notion of basic child development, now, nation-wide the Label “gang related” spreads like a plaque. Monkey see, monkey do. Your tactics and skills use peer pressure and intentionally create, to instill, uncivilized behavior that is so, socially inappropriate, and destructive that it is both barbaric and suicidal; at its core it is stronger than the parental voice. Resultantly, these kids are asked to leave school at the most crucial formative time in their short lives, so that they can attack each other on the streets of Los Angeles not unlike the suicide bombers in Iraq. These children are evicted from school when they should be entering college. Instead, they are maimed.
