The Faces Of
Appalachian Poverty
MARCH 23, 2013
In Kentucky, the state
has provided some interesting
help for those in the hollows.
School buses make pickups. The people have mail
delivery. I find this commendable on the part of the State,
since many of the people are squatters and probably don'’t vote

or pay taxes.
More than one in five poor children in America live in a rural
area, but when media or policymakers discuss poverty, they
usually talk about the city. When the Communication Consortium
Media Center examined more than 1,400 newspaper articles
on federal welfare reform several years ago, not one article
dealt with the issue in rural areas. While poverty exists in both
urban and rural areas, the characteristics of those living in
poverty in these two places are
distinctly different. Not only
do rural areas have consistently
higher rates of poverty
than urban places, but those
living in poverty in rural areas
are more likely to be white
and living in two-adult households.

From LIFE: “In a lonely valley in eastern Kentucky, in the heart of the mountainous region
called Appalachia, live an impoverished people whose plight has long been ignored by affluent
America. Their homes are shacks without plumbing or sanitation. Their landscape is a manmade
desolation of corrugated hills and hollows laced with polluted streams. The people,
themselves — often disease-ridden and unschooled — are without jobs and even without hope.
Government relief and handouts of surplus food have sustained them on a bare subsistence
level for so many years that idleness and relief are now their accepted way of life.”

In the North Central region, the rural poor are even more
likely to be white, comprising
in 1993 more than 90 percent
of those in rural poverty, with
African Americans comprising
3.7 percent and Native
Americans 2.9 percent.

Rush limbaugh proclaimed that "if one wants to live, one needs to stand up for one's self;alternatively, don't stand up, die." They said that if anyone stops you from voting, "shoot them, before they can shoot you"? I don't get this!

ALGEBRA OUR WAY TODAY:http://bookstore.xlibris.com/Products/SKU-0112143017/Baby-Algebra-For-Baby-and-You.aspxIntroducing baby to algebra as early as the baby shower via algebra themed baby beginnings, such as:mobiles, room plaques, pacifiers and other baby algebra paraphernalia,we inundate baby with the message that algebra is important to baby and family tradition.Baby algebra uses pictures and key words to help Baby to generalize and grasp algebra concepts. Therefore we can think our way through the stepping stones called tests. Colors and images react . Colors with one side of the brain, images with the other side of the brain, together create and complete the learning process inherent at birth . WALLA! Baby does algebra.

A good dose of self-introspection rather than the endless blame of ‘ Greedy Corporations will get our continent to where it should be because Africa is the richest continent in the world. HOPE in that American Africans and others not suffer from a damaged self-image shaped by the perceptions and treatment by German and Irish Americans.  HOPE  in Black life, not taking on the illussional stereotypes perpetuated by German and Irish Americans. Crediting German and Irish American rhetoric in his 1985 speech PW Botha stated then what is apparent today, that: These Corporations perpetuate the ideals that
“Blacks are good in nothing else but making noise, dancing, marrying many wives and in dulging in sex. Let us not accept the consensus of German and Irish that the black man is the symbol of poverty, mental inferiority, laziness and emotional incompetence.'' He also said that “Black is not raw material for the German man.
We need only Introduce our own dose of self-introspection into the endless blame of  those Greedy Corporations, who take all and leave nothing behind, like a zillion roaches on a crumb of bread, may just engage the  unification in the and might just help get our continent where it needs to be, that is,“Africa without borders”.
1.  African unity starts with communication. Communication starts with one universal language. The genesis of unification is in the whole of Africa of with one central language.

“Now the whole earth used the same language and the same words Now the whole of Africa had one language and a common speech. Religion and politics is oil and water. (King James)
I am sent to you
with the language of my people
so that you can clearly understand (Q uran)
Communication starts with respect of saying “kind things” to others.

2. “The wars of the 21st century will be fought over water”.

3. Self-introspection applied to How we are conquerd, enslaved, and otherwised deprived by a rule known as the divide and conquer/rule-- a way of keeping yourself in a position of power by making the people under you disagree with each other so that they are unable to join together and remove you from your position much be instilled into our conscience.   A small minority have continued to govern by a policy of divide and conquer.
